Midnight Bloom

It always leaves me in awe when I consider how fast I can finish a floral painting. Out of all of the paintings I do they are the quickest and easiest to complete. I have come to the conclusion that I can produce them so quickly because I just make the flowers up as I go. I rarely use source material and I never paint them realistically, so I can use my imagination and creativity to create the flowers that I want to see. It reminds me of when I was a kid and I would zone out doodling and not caring or thinking about what I was creating. I was just going with the flow and I enjoyed getting lost in the moment.

Above, is my latest painting, " Midnight Bloom ". It is an acrylic painting on stretched canvas. I wanted to capture the beauty of nature in the dark when foliage is the least visible. I wanted the contrast between the darker and lighter elements to sharply contrast each other creating it's own type of electric energy.
